Our Safeguarding Adults Training course provides essential knowledge and practical guidance to help individuals recognise, respond to, and report concerns of abuse or neglect.

Designed for those working with vulnerable adults in healthcare, social care, and community settings, this course promotes a culture of safety, dignity, and respect.

Participants will gain the confidence to identify safeguarding concerns, understand their responsibilities, and take appropriate action in line with current legislation and best practice.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand what safeguarding means and why it is important

  • Recognise who may be considered a vulnerable adult

  • Understand the principles of adult safeguarding (e.g. empowerment, protection, prevention)

Types of Abuse:

  • Physical abuse

  • Emotional/psychological abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Financial or material abuse

  • Neglect and acts of omission

  • Discriminatory abuse

  • Domestic abuse

  • Modern slavery and self-neglect

Recognising Signs & Indicators:

  • Physical and behavioural signs of abuse

  • Environmental and financial indicators

  • Patterns of concern and risk factors

Responsibilities & Reporting:

  • Duty of care and professional boundaries

  • How to respond to a disclosure

  • Recording concerns accurately and appropriately

  • Reporting procedures and escalation pathways

  • Whistleblowing

Legal Framework & Guidance:

  • Key legislation and policies (e.g. Care Act principles)

  • Roles of local authorities and safeguarding boards

Risk & Prevention:

  • Reducing the risk of abuse

  • Promoting dignity, respect, and person-centred care

  • Safe working practices
